CODE OF ETHICS

This code of ethics outlines the principles that guide all Luminous Wellbeing offerings, events and content. It reflects a commitment to being ethical, inclusive and trauma-informed.

Informed consent

I support individual autonomy, confidentiality, and transparency within my work and the spaces I create. I prioritise informed consent by ensuring clients have the relevant information to make decisions, including information about session content, boundaries, and confidentiality. Clients are always invited to chose what feels right for them.

Client-facilitator relationships

I use invitational language and support client choice throughout our work together. I understand that both client and facilitator have non-negotiable needs and boundaries that must be respected. I uphold confidentiality and honour the sacredness of anything shared in a session. Consent is required before collecting client data or taking any photos or videos. Confidentially may only be broken if I believe someone is at risk of serious harm.

I do not offer touch in sessions. If touch is ever requested (e.g. in an in-person yoga session) it will be clearly explained, optional, and based on explicit consent.

Do no harm / safety

Creating safety is at the forefront of all that I do. I remain flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of clients and the space we co-create. At the same time, I honour my own needs and boundaries to maintain integrity and mutual respect.

Scope of Practice

I offer integrative somatic practices, which may include movement, breath, mindfulness, nervous system education, and guided experiences in nature. I also offer yoga-based practices. I am not a clinical therapist, and do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If a client’s needs are beyond my scope of practice, where possible I will provide referral options to other qualified professionals.

Nervous System Support in Context

While my offerings focus on supporting individual and group wellbeing, I recognise that nervous system challenges do not occur in isolation. Our experiences are shaped by the environments, relationships, and systems we live within — including cultural norms, systemic oppression, collective trauma, and disconnection from land, community and identity.

I recognise that nervous system work must happen alongside systemic change and acknowledge the broader conditions that impact our health and wellbeing. I honour both the personal and collective dimensions of healing in all that I do.

Equity / Active inclusion / Anti-discrimination

I actively seek to create inclusive, welcoming spaces for all. This includes considering accessibility, offering inclusive payment options, and cultivating a body-positive and identity-affirming environment. I welcome and respect people of all races, cultures, genders, sexualities, faiths, abilities, ages, and lived experiences.

Respect for All Beings

I honour the interconnectedness of life and seek to hold a space of reverence for all beings, human and non-human. My ethical framework includes care for animals, ecosystems, and the more-than-human world. This perspective informs my language, sourcing, and offerings, and arises from a personal commitment to compassion, sustainability, and justice for all forms of life.

I recognise that many of the dominant systems we live within are built on the exploitation of animals and the earth. While my offerings focus on human wellbeing, they are guided by a broader intention: to contribute to a more harmonious, respectful, and dignified world for all.

Honesty & Integrity

I communicate honestly, sharing information that I believe to be true. I uphold integrity and continuously align my actions and offerings with my values and the intention behind my work. I regularly reflect on the question ‘what is my why?’

Personal Moral Code

I honour and stay true to my own personal moral code, rooted in compassion, equity, self-agency, sustainability, truth, and integrity. I also remain open to the shared values of the diverse communities that I serve and reflect regularly on how I can follow my own moral compass in the context of collective ethics.

Acknowledging lineage / mentors / sources of information

I acknowledge and recognise lineage as well as present and past mentors. I bring forward this recognition throughout my work to respect and deepen students' historical knowledge and contribute to their self-awareness.

Continued Education

I commit to ongoing learning and development as a trauma-informed, integrative somatic facilitator. I honour the study and practice of this work as a sacred responsibility, and continue to develop my skills and understanding.

Feedback and Accountability

If at any point you feel that I have not upheld this Code of Ethics, I welcome respectful dialogue and take all concerns seriously. I am committed to accountability and will do my best to listen, learn, and respond with care. You’re welcome to share feedback directly via email at paris@luminouswellbeing.org, or through the website contact form.
